Originally bought by William Mocko of Newburgh, New York, as a birthday surprise for his wife, this Buick came decked with a variety of options. From the Super Turbine 400 transmission to power steering and brakes, the meticulous detailing even extended to the SoftRay tinted glass windshield, costing extra back in 1964.
Custom enhancements, including padded cushions, roof and wheel arch moldings, and specialized tires, added to its allure. The total package elevated the final purchase price to $4122.53, a significant investment back in July 1964.
A detailed Broadcast Sheet revealed the Wildcat's origins, highlighting its production number in the high 42,000s and its delivery to Broadway by Anchor Motor Freight. Despite its usage for special occasions and holidays, the car maintained pristine condition.
Fast forward to November 9, 2000, journalist Don Herron stumbled upon this immaculate Buick at a house sale owned by Joan Mocko, Bill Mocko's sister. With a mere 37,000 original miles on the odometer, this classic exuded a new car scent, retaining its pristine condition.
Subsequently changing hands and accruing a few thousand more miles, the Buick found its way to Jeremy Davies in 2020. Jeremy, known for his affinity for classic cars, was drawn to the Wildcat reminiscent of his father's 1965 Pontiac Catalina. After meticulous inspection and maintenance, Jeremy ensured the car's preservation, addressing minor imperfections while marveling at its originality.
The 1964 Buick Wildcat, a pinnacle of luxury and performance, boasted a 401cu in 'Nailhead' V8 engine, propelling it with 325bhp at 4400rpm. With its Super Turbine 400 transmission, this vehicle exemplified Buick's commitment to performance and refinement.
