YEAR OF THE FACELIFT

Aston’s 2023 kicks off with tweaks to its flagship DBS, which will get restyled lights, bumpers and wheels, along with an active front splitter and bigger rear wing for 600kg of downforce at 155mph. The most significant improvement is a new interior which mates Mercedes electronics with a much improved infotainment system offering extended connectivity.

DB11 OVERHAULED

It was so nearly a new car, the DB12. Instead the DB11 will get an upgraded interior plus fully restyled front and rear ends along with wider wings, wheels, tyres and track. The badge on the bootlid is now expected to read DB11 Ultimate, before the V12 disappears for good, killed by EU7. The V8s will get power hikes in the short term. Longer term, Aston will likely kill either the DBS or the DB11.

VANTAGE AND DBX

Another Aston facelift earmarked for 2023 concerns the Vantage, due in the fourth quarter. It’ll get the same round of functional and aesthetic upgrades as the DB11, although the Vantage’s power boost is likely to be modest. The DBX SUV gets a plug-in hybrid soon but must soldier on one more year before switching to a fresh infotainment system.

NEED TO KNOW

  • What is it? The next chapter in the soon-to-end Aston V12 story
  • Tech? Not so much, which is why the 5.2-litre twin-turbo unit isn’t long for this world
  • Aimed at? Daniel Craig wannabes with a thing for automotive beauty and excessive power
  • When can I have one? Just as soon as you’ve saved a couple of hundred grand.

DB11 Ultimate is the V12’s last hurrah
