Porsche Motorsport commits to Supercup and Carrera Cup GB, to race in support of F1 and the TOCA pac

Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup has raced in support of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship since its inception in 1993. That deal has now been extended for eight more years and will run until 2030. The 2023 season will see the international one-make cup race as part of eight European Grand Prix events, including the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Motorsport deals extended

Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1, said: “For 30 years Porsche has been an important part of the Formula 1 weekend. I’m looking forward to continuing our long-standing relationship, which delivers something special for our fans across our European season and beyond. It’s yet another sign of our growth and influence as a platform that major brands want to continue to expand their relationships with us and the potential that’s there for all our partners.”

There are 28 slots available on the Supercup grid for 2023, although depending on the capacity of the tracks, additional guest drivers may enrol. This meant that at the majority of last season’s races, 32 911 GT3 Cup cars treated fans to some thrilling racing.

Porsche Carrera Cup GB has also announced an extension to its deal until at least 2026, racing in support of the British Touring Car Championship on the TOCA package. The championship’s home since its creation 20 years ago, Carrera Cup GB uses the same GT3 Cup cars raced in Supercup. This makes it the ideal platform for rising stars, such as 2020 champion Harry King.

“Porsche is delighted to further strengthen its relationship with TOCA,” said James MacNaughton, manager at Motorsport. “The TOCA package has been home to Porsche Carrera Cup GB since its inception 20 years ago and, from 2023, Porsche Sprint Challenge GB will also race exclusively alongside the BTCC. At four weekends we’ll showcase both championships on the same billing.”
