Nio plots ET5 Estate, UK launch and budget brand

Chinese premium EV brand Nio will launch an estate version of the ET5 saloon later this year, aimed at European customers.

It will eventually be offered in right-hand drive for sale in the UK when the firm enters the market at the end of 2023.

“It’s a very beautiful car. It has a lot of interior space, including rear head room,” Nio CEO William Li told DrivesToday.

When it arrives, it will be the first premium EV estate on the market, with the upcoming Peugeot e-308 SW its closest competitor.

Following the estate, Nio will next year launch an entry-level brand for mass-market vehicles, again focused on Europe. Called Project Firefly (a working title), it is focused on developing vehicles with a reported target price of around £23,500.
