New 2024 Porsche Cayenne 9YA/9YB brings updated powertrain, chassis, interior and styling

Porsche has thoroughly refined the Cayenne in readiness for the 2024 model year. This new version of the company’s luxury SUV debuts with a highly digitalised dashboard display and control system, new chassis technology and additional innovative high-tech features. “This is one of the most extensive product upgrades in Porsche’s history,” says Michael Schätzle, Vice President of Product Line Cayenne.


Porsche has integrated a completely revised display and control concept into the new Cayenne. Mirroring the Taycan’s control layout, functions the driver uses frequently are located directly on (or immediately next to) the steering wheel. The lever located on the left (behind the steering wheel) now has additional functions for operating the driver assistance systems.

Additionally, the automatic transmission selector lever is now on the dashboard. This makes room on the new centre console for storage compartments and a large air-conditioning user interface housed in an elegant solid panel. Porsche highlights a key feature of the new control system as being the balance struck between digital and analogue switchgear. High-definition HD Matrix LED headlights provide road illumination tailored to every driving situation, while a new air quality system filters air pollutants from the cabin. For the first time, the Cayenne’s front passenger has their own infotainment display screen.

Of course, with its extensively upgraded design and more powerful engine range, the Cayenne emphasises its claim to be the sportiest vehicle in its segment. In Europe, the new Cayenne debuts with three different powerplants. For the Cayenne S, an extensive refinement of the four-litre Porsche V8 biturbo replaces the previous V6. With output of 468bhp and 442.5lb-ft torque, the bent-eight can take the Cayenne to 62mph from rest in just 4.7 seconds. Top speed is 170mph.

The entry-level Cayenne is now powered by a turbocharged three-litre V6 generating 369bhp. The six-cylinder engine also forms the basis of the new Cayenne E-Hybrid’s powertrain. In combination with a new electric motor rated at 130kW (174bhp), combined output increases to 464bhp. Depending on the level of individual equipment optioned, when loaded with a high-voltage 25.9kWh battery, a purely electric range of fifty-six miles is now possible. A new 11kW on-board charger shortens charging time to less than two and a half hours, despite the increased battery capacity.

For most sales territories, the Turbo GT remains top model in the Cayenne range. The super-SUV is available exclusively as a coupé and benefits from all the optimisations and innovations of the entire model series. In addition, for Turbo GT use, output of the four-litre V8 biturbo engine has been increased by 19bhp to 650bhp, enabling the sprint to 62mph to be managed in 3.3 seconds. Top speed is 190mph.
