2024 BMW X1 M35i xDrive U11 details

Fans of small SAVs looking for something sporty have found what they’ve been looking for with the new U11 X1M35i. Under the bonnet sits the B48 four-cylinder TwinPower turbo engine making 300hp in European models, and 317hp for the USA and other selected markets. Peak power is delivered between 5750-6500 rpm, while peak torque of 295 lb ft is on tap from 2000-4500rpm, and the X1 M35i hits 62mph from a standstill in 5.4 seconds. The car comes fitted with a seven-speed Steptronic gearbox with shift paddles, and if you pull the left paddle for at least one second, the M Sport Boost function activates, and all the powertrain and chassis systems are switched to their sportiest setting.

Naturally, the X1 M35i U11 features xDrive 4WD, which includes a mechanical limited-slip differential on the front axle with a locking factor of up to 26%. This increases traction over loose terrain or in adverse weather conditions at the same time as boosting agility and handling dynamics when taking corners at speed. The X1 M35i U11 comes with 19” wheels as standard, with 20” items available as an option, and Adaptive M Suspension also comes as standard, with the M35i sitting 15mm lower compared to other X1s. The X1 M35i also features an integrated braking system which generates a degree of stopping power that is matched exactly to the driver’s inputs, while also providing excellent feedback via the brake pedal. It brings together the brake activation, brake booster and braking control functions within a compact module, while an electric actuator is used to trigger the required brake pressure.

The X1 M35i U11 is also available with optional M Compound brakes, comprising four-piston, fixed-caliper brakes with 385mm drilled discs at the front wheels and single-piston, floating-caliper units with integrated parking brake and 330mm discs at the rear. The calipers are grey and bear the M logo.
