TT rules, okay Big shake-up is coming for Isle of Man races in 2022 and 2023

The Covid-19 pandemic has ruined a lot of things for a lot of people – including the Isle of Man TT races in 2020 and 2021. But there’s one tiny upside to the TT’s cancellation, according to the organisers – they had the chance to completely re-think the event. They’ve spent the last 15 months working on ways to bring the TT into the digital age, with an all-new online video streaming package, as well as spreading the racing out more evenly across the first two weeks in June.

From 2023, racing will begin on the middle weekend, with the Superbike race on the Sunday after practice week and the Senior race on the following Saturday. That will help hotels, ferries and airlines by distributing visitors more evenly over two weekends, rather than the current sharp peak demands around the big races. Fast Bikes readers online had a mixed response to the proposals, though. “Fuck yeah,” said Joel McCabe on Twitter. “I was worried it would never come back.”

Over on Facebook, David Windsor commented: “Quality, thanks for the update guys!” Darrell Middleton added: “Can’t wait for it to start up again. Not sure how I feel about paying to stream it on the net though, rather than it being on the telly.”

The pandemic’s led to a re-think of the TT.“Look… is that a shake-up on the horizon?
