Jaguar E-Type 60 - Shelsley Walsh
It would fill this whole magazine to cover all the events that have celebrated the E-types 60th birthday. Here we focus on the largest event dedicated solely on the model.
Phillip Porter’s E-type club certainly pulled the stops out, aided by the atmospheric Hillclimb venue which allowed live demonstrations to take place throughout the weekend. These included a particularly exciting ‘Italian Job’ recreation, arguably the most ‘close up and personal’ experience possible! Interviews with Jaguar personalities were conducted on the theatre stage, the only problem encountered for visitors was to fit viewing all this entertainment into only one weekend.
From a trade perspective, virtually everyone who is anyone in the E business could be found in the shopping village or within the main paddock. JDHT bought the most significant Es from its collection to join those displayed in the paddock shelters. It will be a long time (ten years perhaps?) until we see such in incomparable line-up again.
