Us Lot of the future - all new Lotus Technology

New Lotus Technology HQ will be completed in 2024 while an all-new factory is set to manufacture new-generation EVs

Lotus Technology, an entirely new “intelligent technology division” of Group Lotus, is a global subsidiary to augment the 73-year-old brand’s DNA, according to the company. Set for completion in 2024, construction of a state-of-the- art tech centre started at the end of August in Wuhan, China. There are plans for an all-new factory to manufacture electric vehicles for global markets, too, and that will open before the end of the year, complementing existing sportscar manufacturing and performance facilities back in Blighty at the firm’s plant in Hethel, Norwich.

What new developments can we expect? The plan is to accelerate innovation in the fields of batteries and energy management, electric motors, electronic control systems, intelligent driving and manufacturing. The next four years will be crucial for the company. Things kick off in 2022 with the debut of an E-segment SUV codenamed Type 132. Followed in 2023 by an E-segment four-door coupé, the Type 133; and, in 2025, by the Type 134, a new D-segment SUV. This trio will be joined in 2026 by an all-new electric sportscar, the Type 135, of course.
