Gordon Spice, 1940-2021
Sadly, the most famous Capri racer of them all, Gordon Spice passed away last month. He was class winner in the British Saloon Car Championship for five successive seasons from 1976 to 1980 — driving 3-litre Mk2 and Mk3 Capris to 24 outright victories in the process, largely as part of his Gordon Spice Racing team.
“The Capri was by far the easiest car I ever raced,” said Gordon back in 2019. “The rear-drive chassis was simple to tune, so it handled really, really well. Just a brilliant motor car.”
