Digital key now available for Android

The BMW Digital Key is now available for smartphones using the Android operating system.

Secure keyless access via the BMW digital key is now available for Android operating system-based smartphones starting with Samsung and Google devices. The update means that the number of compatible smartphone models has increased, the Digital Key is now available for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Series and Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. The system already works for Apple handsets.

With the BMW Digital Key, customers can unlock and lock their BMW simply by holding their smartphone next to the handle of the driver's door. The engine can also be started when the mobile phone is placed in the BMW wireless charging compartment. To ensure security, the Digital Key is stored on the secure element of the smartphone. It can be configured via My BMW app and is then available as an option for almost all BMW models. It will also soon be possible to pass the digital key on to five different friends.
