Castrol supports fastest Minis

Thrilling racing assured in 2022 as big names continue their support

The team behind the Fastest Mini in the World Race have announced that Castrol Classic Oils will be continuing as the lead sponsor for 2022. Following the enormous success of the 2021 race it will again be one of the must-see feature races at the Mini Festival Brands Hatch.

“We are delighted to continue our involvement with this prestigious event,” said Castrol’s Martin Bentley. “It really speaks volumes about our longstanding association with the Mini marque, that includes development and success in motorsport, and underlines our continued enthusiasm to maximise competitor and spectator enjoyment.”

The front-running cars are Spaceframe and Supersaloon classic Minis boasting 200- 300bhp+, reaching up to 130mph on the Indy Circuit at Brands Hatch before diving into Paddock Hill Bend – thrilling stuff for both drivers and spectators! These cars turn in very respectable ~52 second lap times and are always brilliant to watch; pictured here is the gaggle of racing Minis grouped at Paddock Hill in the 2021 race.

Race entries will open shortly. We’re sure to see another fabulous grid for 2022, and it’s expected to grow by at least another ten cars or so, with new Spaceframe and Supersaloon Minis currently in build and plenty of fresh interest from overseas. One-thing spectators can be sure of: it will be a great sight to witness, the iconic ’60s Minis with 21st-century racing technology battling it out for 2022 honours.
