Ferrari teases Purosangue

Ferrari has revealed the first official image of its new Purosangue model – the very first crossover SUV in the company’s 75-year history. The model was first confirmed back in 2018, and while Maranello still refers to it as the ‘Ferrari Utility Vehicle’ (FUV), it’s expected to be namedPurosangue(‘Thoroughbred’) when it’s officially launched in October 2022.

The digital teaser image shows only the nose of the car, featuring a large front grille, narrow headlights and an aggressively sculpted clamshell bonnet. Based on a development of the Ferrari Roma platform, the new car will be the largest Ferrari ever made at about five metres long, as well as being Ferrari’s first five-door offering. Details of the powertrain are not yet known, but speculation suggests that a pure V12-engined model will be joined by a hybrid version, similar to that used in the 296 GTB. With the Urus now Lamborghini’s bestselling model, the sales potential for the new Purosangue is substantial. Expect it to be priced well above the level of the Urus, probably in excess of £200,000.
