2022 Volkswagen’s new-gen bus – the Multivan T7
Volkswagen’s new-gen bus – the Multivan – ushers in a fresh approach to the popular family mover
Thanks to the Multivan’s T7 lightweight modular seating layout and innovative table, the cabin is more flexible and spacious than before. There is a digital instrument cluster measuring 10,25 inches and 10-inch infotainment display up front.
For the first time, VW offers its popular family bus with a hybrid powertrain. The eHybrid model’s 1,4-litre turbopetrol and electric motor setup produces a combined 160 kW. TFSI options include a 100 kW 1,5-litre and 150 kW 2,0-litre, while a 110 kW TDI is available.
Underpinned by the VW Group’s MQB platform, the standard Multivan T7 measures 4 973 mm bow to stern, 1 941 mm wide and 1 903 mm in height. The wheelbase is 3 124 mm.
With the rearmost row of pews in place, the standard Multivan offers a claimed boot space of 469 litres. Folding the third-row seats down reveals an additional 1 375 litres. In total (all rows folded flat) the Multivan has a cavernous 3 672 litres of utility space.
Exterior design cues, such as the boxy frame and full-width grille, pay homage to Transporters of the past. According to VW, the reduced front air intake pays tribute to air-cooled rear-engined Kombis.
