MG6 Pro and MG6 PHEV latest update

More photos have been released of the latest variant of the MG6; the luxury-focused MG6 Pro, complete with radically altered nose, including a very large grille, which echoes that of the Chinese MG5 and the upmarket Pilot/Lingang version of the MG HS. The MG6 PHEV retains the usual MG6 grille but is being offered in brighter colours in the style of the MG6 XPower that was unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show in April. None of these models seems destined for export outside China.

The MG6 PHEV combines the usual 1.5-litre SAIC petrol engine with an electric powertrain and a synchronised electric ten-speed gearbox. The bright green colour would have been almost unthinkable a few years in a fairly superstitious market like China.

The MG6 Pro, previewed in MG Enthusiast last month, has gone on sale as a more upmarket variant of the MG6. It is aimed at the youth market with bold colour schemes, a much larger radiator grille and tailgate spoiler in contrasting Piano Black. There are currently no export plans.

The interior of the MG6 Pro seems pretty similar to that of the basic MG6, which remains on sale, but there are nods to sporty rivals with Alcantara mock-suede and bright trim fixtures.
