Volvo Trucks announces new family of heavy electric HGVs
Volvo Trucks will boost its electric truck range in 2022, with the arrival of three more zero-emission HGV models. Joining the FE and FL Electric trucks which are aimed at urban routes and use, the new FH, FM and FMX Electrics will cater for the heavier road transport sector.
The FH, FM and FMX Electric share the FL Electric's zero-emissions range of 186 miles. Continuous power is 490kW, with maximum torque of 2,400Nm. Battery capacity is up to 540kWh, and the gross combination weight (GCW) is up to 44 tons.
Testing of the new series of e-trucks began last year, with sales of the new models imminent. Volume production of the new models will start in 2022. Once on-stream, Volvo Trucks will sell a complete range of battery-electric trucks in Europe for distribution, refuse, regional transport and urban construction operations.
In addition to the all-electric models, to meet the challenging demands for both high load capacity and a much longer range, Volvo Trucks also plans to introduce a family of hydrogen fuel cell models.
