EX-Royal 1980 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II to be sold

EX-Royal 1980 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II to be sold

A 1980 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II owned by HRH Princess Margaret for 22 years is to go under the hammer (with an estimate of £45,000-55,000) as this issue of Rolls-Royce & Bentley Driver goes to print.

The car was supplied new to Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, and was tailored to her personal specification – including the upholstery piping both front and rear being moved back to ensure it didn’t make contact with her neck if she chose to recline. The rest of the car’s interior is similarly bespoke, with a false floor to the rear, the back seat squab mounted as low as possible (HRH was only 5ft 1in tall), enlarged C-post vanity mirrors and green cloth upholstery throughout, complete with a loose cover for the driver’s seat. Black leather was used for the top and bottom of the dashboard, centre console and door cards, while the chosen dashboard veneer was Matt Rosewood. The glovebox was specified without a lock, as instant access was needed for the switch to the roof-mounted police escort light.
