Opel unveils Rocks-e Microcar

Opel has unveiled the Rocks-e, a badge-engineered version of the Citroën Ami electric mobility vehicle. While it won’t be coming to the UK, unlike its double chevron-badged sister car, it’s planned for launch in some European markets from 2022. It’s described as the brand’s first Sustainable Urban Mobility (SUM) model.

Measuring 2,410mm in length, the Rocks-e shares its powertrain with the Ami, including an 8bhp electric motor and a 5.5kWh battery that can be recharged in 3.5 hours with a household socket. Its top speed is quoted at 28mph, and the Rocks-e has a range of 47 miles.

Prices haven’t been revealed yet, but most customers are likely to lease the micro car with a monthly payment, which is said to cost around the same as a monthly travel card. With a turning circle of 7.2 metres, it has been designed for the city ‘mastering tight corners and fitting into small parking spaces.’
