Beefier shocks transform Volkswagen Transporter T25

If you’re planning an upgrade for your T25, maybe new shocks ought to be top of your list

Anna and Martin aren’t into package tours. They need their freedom and never stay in one place for long. Their faithful companion is ‘Schlumpf’ (Smurf), a 35-year-old T25 Westfalia camper, which they purchased nine years ago and have spent time and money improving ever since. Among other things, the interior was renovated, the high-top roof was restored and solar panels with a total output of 200W were installed. Anna and Martin have already travelled through half of Europe with their van: from northern France to southern France and from the German island of Fehmarn to Croatia and Italy.

The most significant upgrade it seems, however, were the B6 Bilstein shocks. Said Martin: “Since we like to go off-road in search of overnight spots, this conversion was one of the most important aspects for us. Having a robust but at the same time comfortable suspension is simply worth its weight in gold on this type of trip.

“We were even able to drive on gravel roads at 70km/h without any problems whatsoever. In fact, we’d recommend them to anyone who likes to cover long distances on the motorway but also wants to leave the paved roads now and again.”

If you’re about to replace the original shocks on your Van, then these are definitely worth a look we’d say. More info from bilstein.com
